The self-acting, automatic pressure differential by-pass valve is used in multi-zoned systems that have fluctuations in flow due to transient opening and closing of zones. An additional benefit for using the valve is during flow balancing of manifolds. The valve creates consistent system pressure, allowing more exact balancing when balancing the manifolds under operation. The valve is not required in single-zone systems such as snow melting or smaller radiant projects operated by a single secondary pump. The valve opens on rising differential pressure.
